The 2024 Southern Hemisphere image collection
All of the images I captured during my March 2024 trip to San Pedro de Atacama are documented in their own gallery pages. But, as I was summarizing my 2024 journal, I thought it would be good to have a single gallery containing all of the images in one place. This gallery has all the images, with a short comment (for some that were remark-able) and the link to their gallery page (that contains more information – the target fun facts, capture notes, equipment and processing information). The images are arranged chronologically by their capture date.

7 March 2024: NGC 3576 Statue of Liberty Nebula

9 March 2024: NGC2070 Tarantula Nebula & Large Magellanic Cloud; NGC6188 Rim Nebula (a.k.a. Fighting Dragons of Ara); Milky Way
Saturday night, 9 March marked our half-way point in the trip – so I made the most of it! Imaging two DSO’s, while Danita and I both setting up cameras to capture the Milky Way.

10 March 2024: The “Carina Group” of Nebulae; Vela SNR’s Crest & Bridge

This was absolutely a last-minute add to the target list – although, especially traveling with Danita, it should have been top of the list! I didn’t remember I meant to image it in the Southern Hemisphere because I’ve tried to capture it from home and got nothing – it’s too low on our Southern horizon. When I went out to do the meridian flip on the Vela SNR Spiral Flame – I remembered! So I quickly generated the sequence plan and imaged it for half of our last night.
